My Dinner with a Baron in Venice

My Dinner with a Baron in Venice

Perhaps this blog is better titled, “My Almost Dinner with a Baron in Venice.” I know. I am such a title tease. BUT it did almost happen. However, a rare Venetian snowfall happened instead which impeded my baron from undocking his boat from his palace on the Grand Canal. His message, “Jen, it is snowing…

Oh, The Places I Will Go…in January

It is cold and cloudy here in Seattle so that means it is time for me to escape to cold and cloudy Paris! Hurray! My becoming regular buying/exploring/indulging-in-baguettes winter expedition to Europe will commence in a few short days, and my itinerary is chalk full of new and old favorite places to visit. While it may…

My 2015 Life in Review!

This is the third year that I have done a reflective blog spotlighting personal highlights of a year that has just come to pass.  Before starting this I went and googled whether I can now officially call it a “tradition.” Discussion boards varied referencing biblical definitions to how many times it takes to make a habit (21 times…

Charming Ortigia in Sicily

Charming Ortigia in Sicily

When trying to figure out where to go in Italy in January, I asked my Italian cousins, “What do you think of Puglia?” Yes, Puligia. You see, I have been obsessed with a seaside restaurant set inside of a cave that happens to be in one of Puligia’s provinces called Bali. Imagine being elegantly seated inside a vaulted limestone…

Roman Holiday – 3 Nights in Rome

Roman Holiday – 3 Nights in Rome

The privilege of staying with locals when visiting any foreign city is without doubt the best way to learn its rhythm and feel its heart. I had the pleasure of staying with dear friends during my too short stay in The Eternal City, and it was divine. During the day I would make due on my own as…

My 2014!

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. – Albert Einstein I found this quote yesterday on the Ritz Paris website.  I head to Paris next Monday, so I was visiting their site to see if the 2+ year remodel was finished and if I would have the pleasure of enjoying a “Serendipity” mixed…

My Italian Beach Holiday and Dottor Fish!

My Italian Beach Holiday and Dottor Fish!

I put on fuzzy socks to write this post. Yep, it is August 6…some would even say summertime….but apparently summer skipped Paris this year.  In fact, it is raining yet again outside…I hear the light drops of the rain on my bedroom window…maddening. Paris has this crazy August tradition called “Paris-Plages“…where a beach, complete with sand…

The Almafi Coast, Rome and Saying Good-bye to Italy…

Well, as stated earlier in my travels….travel companions, although glorious to be with, do not lend to consitent blog posts.  As it happens, I am actually in Greece right now :)…having a light cheese plate, glass of white wine and listening to Mark and Adam talk about the importance of the UN. I left Italy…

Modena! Modena! Modena!

My last night in Modena  (pronounced MO-deh-nah), my adorable server, Luca, asked me, “Why did you come to Modena?”  The simple answer: to eat…of course!  The medieval town is not the tourist mecca that some other towns in Italy draw…but the Emilia-Romagna region is touted as having the best food in Italy.  The famous Parmigiano…
